Hello all,
Today I wish to share something more personal, so you know me better.
My name is John and was born back in the early 90’s specifically 1989. I live in Greece and from a young age, I draw and craft things. My father is a professor of data science, so computers have been a game changer for me throughout my life.
Early Foundations: Art Meets Technology
Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to have this dual influence in my life – an innate drive to create art and craft things with my hands, combined with early exposure to the transformative power of computers. While other kids were just playing games, I was unknowingly being prepared for a future where digital and creative skills would converge.
The Journey to Digital Creation
In 2010, I took my first professional steps as a graphic designer. It felt natural – a perfect blend of my artistic inclinations and the technological literacy I’d absorbed at home. The transition from traditional drawing and crafting to digital creation wasn’t just a career choice; it was a continuation of my life’s path.
As my career evolved, I found myself drawn deeper into the digital realm. A few years after starting in design, I expanded into SEO and marketing, discovering new ways to blend creativity with technical expertise. It was like watching my father’s world of data science merge with my world of artistic expression.
The Technical Renaissance
Today, as I dive into HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and even Python, I feel an incredible sense of coming full circle. The programming concepts that once seemed like my father’s domain are now tools in my own creative arsenal. It’s amazing how life works – what started as childhood exposure to computers through my father’s profession has evolved into my own journey of technical exploration.
Gratitude for My Path
I’m deeply grateful for the foundation I was given. Having a father in data science meant I never saw technology as something foreign or intimidating. Instead, it was always a tool for possibility, a means to enhance human creativity rather than replace it. This perspective has been invaluable as we enter an age where AI and advanced technology are becoming integral to creative work.
Living in Revolutionary Times
We’re experiencing something extraordinary in human history. The tools we have access to today are nothing short of miraculous. When I can transform an idea into reality using code, or create designs that would have taken weeks in just hours, I’m reminded of those early days watching my father work with data. He was right all along – computers weren’t just machines; they were portals to unlimited potential.
Looking Forward with Appreciation
My journey from a child who loved to draw and craft, to a professional straddling the worlds of design, marketing, and technology, feels both unexpected and perfectly natural. I’m grateful for the unique perspective my background has given me – understanding both the artistic and technical sides of creation, seeing how they complement rather than compete with each other.
Today, as I continue to learn and grow in this rapidly evolving digital landscape, I feel incredibly fortunate. Fortunate for my early exposure to technology, fortunate for my creative inclinations, and fortunate to be working in an era where these two worlds are more intertwined than ever.
This is why I’m sharing my story today – to express gratitude for the path that led me here, and to remind others that our unique backgrounds, whatever they may be, shape us in ways we might not fully appreciate until years later.
